Unlike the Sant Vicenç Church located in Cardona Castle, the Sant Miquel Church is the church of merchants. Between the end of the 12th century and the beginning of the 14th century, work began to build a new church for the town in accordance with the new Gothic culture. The church was consecrated in 1397. The Sant Miquel Church has a central nave and two side ones. It is noted for the octagonal-shaped crypt where relics of the Holy Martyrs are kept; namely those of Sant Celdoni and Sant Ermentera.
