This centre is located on Plaça de la Fira (Fair Square) directly opposite the Town Hall. It is an interpretive centre for the town and its historic quarter, and it has been declared a centre of great cultural interest. There is a permanent exhibition that has a great graphic and audiovisual repertoire, and it explains the origins and evolution of the town up to the construction of the walled area, which has protected Cardona for over 500 years.
Here visitors are presented with a range of activities, in particular the guided tour of the most representative buildings and sights in the historic quarter, which ends with a visit to the parish church of Sant Miquel and its magnificent Gothic nave. The Sant Miquel Church is an outstanding example of Catalan Gothic architecture. It is formed by three naves and was consecrated in 1397. Inside the temple, there are two magnificent side altarpieces and the crypt of the Sants Màrtirs (Holy Martyrs), which are well worth seeing.
Open on Saturdays and Sundays, when guided tours are also available.
